Ron began woodworking at the age of 5. He had a hand drill, a coping saw and a hammer. His first formal woodworking training was in Grammar school; he was twelve years old and it was the first time he had a chance to see a complete woodworking shop. The first tool he had to learn was the wood lathe and, strangely enough, the instructor had all the students turn a “billyclub”, or police night stick. Today he would be thrown out of school for teaching such a project. His furniture building began in high school and continued throughout his life. He saw his first puzzle box when he was about 40 years old. It utilized dovetail sliders and he was fascinated by it. He then began trying to improve the design and its workings. Today, he still continues to look for new ideas and applications. He enjoys building pieces that have a story about them. Ron lives in Maine, USA.
